Just finished a book. In one dialogue, it brought up a theory, that persons sacrifice truth, in order to obtain happiness. Suppressing unwanted feelings, sensual ecstasy becomes the reason for living. True love for another being is avoided, in-fact, tabooed; releasing one from the grips of passion and heart-ache. Any sort of pain and discomfort is repugnant and not allowed. The objective: a continuous state of contentment. With all individuals adhering to this code, the alleged result is a stable society. But with the lack of pain and relationship, there is a lack of beauty. Without these emotions, Shakespeare's brilliance is not possible, and can not be comprehended. There is nothing of deep interest in ones soul that yearns for expression. Instead creative energy goes towards one's lusts. Pleasing the senses. No one is left in want, receiving gratification instantaneously. Life is cheap, and oblivious to one's self.

This obviously is not an all encompassing view on any society, but an interesting study, which I believe holds truth. I feel this post is written with a greater sophistication than I actually posses. Its probably because they are someone else s ideas, and I use bigger words when I write.

The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference.
The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference.
The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference.
And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.

SO I'm watching pinnochio... Perhaps I could dig up a life lesson from it and apply it to my life. Like smoking, skipping school, and playing pool turns you into an ass... I do all three of those things :(
